The most useful android app: Gesture search

Posted May 19th, 2010 by cool

I'm just completely loving this android application. I just installed it out of curiosity without expecting to much out of it, but it was love on first sight. It is a really simple tool actually, it just allows for searching contacts, apps, bookmarks and music by gesturing a letter on the screen.

I can't say anything but WOW, this app earned a premium place on my home screen in seconds. One of the big problems with these mobile devices is the lack of space on the screen, if you have 100's of applications or music tracks it's not easy selecting the one you want from a list. Voice recognition, while a good idea, just doesn't do it for me. I don't like yelling at my phone and my voice always gives problems with these things.

Gesture search, on the other hand is it for me. I can easily control this while driving or standing, it works with background noise ;-), and it just makes me so much more productive. A truly amazing application.

Gesture Search improves search quality by learning from your search history, so the chosen contact info will jump to the top of the list the next time you write same letter. I also noticed the app learning my gestures and improving on recognition automatically.

If your lucky enough to have a recent android phone, try this one out. It's still in google labs at the moment of this writing, but it has production quality. (as always)
