A small summary of the discussion

As promised I'll write a small summary of the discussion:

It started with me making a list, 10 reasons you can give your boss for migrating to Linux + one reason which should be taken more or less lightly.

Mike responded to this by completely bashing my post, as he assumed it was a statement for moving entire enterprises to Linux. Without any planning and on short term, this would be impossible. That's where we agree but that's not what he distilled from my list.

As Mike used my article I clarified the things on the list , piece by piece with arguments for every item.

In the mean time Hans tried to post a comment on Mike's site which was a little to personal for Mike's taste, so mike removed it. Hans has a blog of his own, so he wrote his own article on Mike.
Argumenting his view of the subject, why migration for the enterprise is very well possible. And also qualifying Mike's article as FUD.

Mike had a lot of responses from people who didn't agree with his opinion, and some people might have gotten a little to emotional about it all. So Mike wrote another article about how he viewed the community and at the same time this was a response to the article by Hans.

Then Hans wrote another article where he states a lot about how he perceives the state of open source in the mind of CIO's followed by a bunch of very interesting arguments for open source.

I must say that in the meantime a lot of comment posting and emailing has been going on between the three of us, on which we found some common ground.

John responded with his article to the discussion between Hans and Mike. He gave some very important arguments for open source in the enterprise as well.

Mike was impressed and gave a positive twist to the story in his last article where he sees a positive point to this debate.

It's really not possible to put a good summary in one article, if your interested in enterprise computing and Linux, you just have to read it yourself.

I liked the debate a lot and from the responses I noticed others did too.
