Toshiba Android netbook

Looks like the Android netbooks are coming:

Toshiba introduced their Dynabook AZ Series which is equipeed with an Android 2.1 OS.

Toshiba AC100

The AC100 is a mobile internet device with a 10.1 inch LED screen and "up to 8 hours" of battery life. According to Toshiba, it "combines smartphone functionality with netbook usability".

The 870g AC100 runs Android 2.1

The AC100 runs Android 2.1 on a 1GHz Nvidia Tegra 250 processor with 512MB of memory and an 8GB solid-state Flash disk. Built in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and mobile phone networking is available as an option. The system also has a webcam with built-in microphone, USB 2.0 and Mini USB ports, an SD card slot, and an HDMI port.

specs:

ARM Nvidia Tegra 250 @1.0GHz CPU
10.1 inch LCD WSVGA Screen with LED backlit (1024 x 600)
16GB of Flash Memory (eMMC)
Bluetooth 2.1+EDR
Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n
two USB2.0 ports
HDMI output
1.3Mpix webcamera

The one thing I'm missing here is a build in HSDPA modem. This is really something the manufacturers of this type of device should consider at least as an option. It's not very expensive to have a build in device and it's a lot easier.

It will be available at about 355 Euro, which is reasonable for a netbook especially as we can expect high quality from toshiba.
It's nice to see there are Linux powered netbooks coming to market from big manufacturers like Toshiba. Android is really breaking up a whole new market for Linux powered devices.
